Maple Syrup has been produced at University School each Spring since 1971. Every aspect of the syrup production takes place on the campus of the Upper School in Hunting Valley, Ohio. In addition to producing a universally enjoyed confection, the process provides participating students with several mental and physical challenges. Pure maple syrup contains only the sugar of maple trees. Because there are no preservatives, the growth of mold is possible unless the syrup is refrigerated after opening. Should mold appear, refurbish the syrup by straining is through cheesecloth, heating it to a boil and refrigerating. |
